Graham Caffull

Following a 25 year career in surveying, Graham’s life took an unexpected turn during a long illness, when he rediscovered his love for art. He has a background in watercolour painting but enjoys working in a variety of media. Several years ago, a longstanding passion for maps crept into Graham’s artwork and, since then, he has been using maps as an integral part of his paintings.
“I draw inspiration from the landscape and the places around us but, most of all, from the maps themselves. Responding to this, I depict local landmarks and natural features relevant to the specific locations, painting directly onto original maps”
The colours in the maps Graham uses blend with his paintings to create unique pieces of art, often with personal significance to the customer. For this reason, his specially commissioned map paintings can make ideal gifts.
