Born in Leith, Edinburgh David moved into the North East in 1985 to pursue his chosen career. He first became interested in art at a young age where he used to sit and watch his grandfather paint which encouraged him to pick up a paint brush.
David at first would draw what was local and easily accessible to him in the streets of Leith and then as he started to progress in his ability he explored subject matter further afield.
In 2000 David decided to pursue an academic qualification in Art and studied part time at Sunderland University where he obtained a degree in Fine Art. Having embraced the challenges of University it made him receptive to try other subject matter and different mediums.
His work is still passionate to his surroundings and enjoys painting the Northumberland coastline and landscapes. David has recently challenged himself and has moved into an unfamiliar territory of equestrianism where he is presently building up a portfolio to present as a collection.
David has an ability for capturing ‘a moment’ in his paintings and drawings with the use of colour and light that takes you to that exact place and time.
David takes commissions for landscapes, portraiture and now equine art to suit the individual and can be contacted on email
