David Donaldson
Born in Leith, Edinburgh David moved into the North East in 1985 to pursue his chosen career. He first became interested in art at a young age where he used to sit and watch his grandfather paint which encouraged him to pick up a paint brush.
David at first would draw what was local and easily accessible to him in the streets of Leith and then as he started to progress in his ability he explored subject matter further afield.
In 2000 David decided to pursue an academic qualification in Art and studied part time at Sunderland University where he obtained a degree in Fine Art. Having embraced the challenges of University it made him receptive to try other subject matter and different mediums.
His work was passionate to his surroundings and enjoys painting the Northumberland coastline and landscapes.
David had an ability for capturing ‘a moment’ in his paintings and drawings with the use of colour and light that takes you to that exact place and time.
David was about to update his work shown here before his planned solo exhibition. His three last paintings shown in the gallery have been added.
